We talk a lot about how to get your hair ready for Summer, but not about Winter. Again, it’s a massive change in the season and we need to prepare our hair in the best way. Instead of protecting our hair from direct sunlight, we need to protect it from the havoc of Winter weather.

Winter does mean cold weather but going from freezing cold to indoor central heating and wearing hats and scarves, we need to look after our hair.

The After Summer Hair Cut at essensuals Rugby

September sees our appointment book get very busy and for good reason. Our clients come to see our stylists for their after Summer haircut. Beach, sun, festivals, days in the park and long lovely nights means hair can end up damaged. A nice trim is the best way to get your hair ready to go into winter and prevent further damage when the change of weather arrives. We also see a huge change in trends from Summer to Winter. Summer brings out the boho in us, but Winter sees a return to strong and chic styles.

The After Summer Colour

While April- June is full of floating beachy waves, September sees us go deeper into our tones even with blondes and we just love it. Coppers and reds, are as always going to be huge this year, so keep it deep and rich.

Autumn / Winter Hair Care

As we’ve said, we tend to go for a darker or softer colours for Winter, so make sure your shampoo is colour friendly. We recommend our Label.m Organic Collection which is formulated with the finest quality natural ingredients that deliver results for shiny, bouncy and beautiful hair.

Within the Organics range we have the ‘Orange Blossom’ shampoo and conditioner which is recommended for fine to medium hair and ‘Moisturising Lemongrass’ lemongrass and conditioner range which is for medium to coarse hair.

The effects of the winter climate means our hair needs moisture. We recommend an in salon Redken Chemistry treatment to help close down the cuticle immediately after a colour service. But also talk to your stylist for their professional recommendation.

If you are looking for more of an at home treatment for dry and damaged hair we would recommend Label.m Honey and Oat mask which is a hydrating and strengthening treatment with Hydra-5 complex for targeted, self-regulating and long-lasting hydration. If your hair is lacking in serious moisture and you would say is more highly damaged we’d recommend the Label.m Intensive Mask which is a concentrated smoothing treatment to replenish lost moisture and improve manageability, leaving hair soft and silky.

Taking hats on and off can give you so much static, so to avoid try using the Label.m Anti Frizz Mist. This is a fine conditioning mist which can be used on wet or dry hair and has heat protection, anti-frizz and split-end repairing properties. It’s perfect for fine hair to de-frizz without weighing the hair down.
